Godfrey Vigne
Godfrey Thomas Vigne (1 Eylül 1801 - 12 Temmuz 1863) İngiliz amatör kriket oyuncusu ve gezgin.
İlk yılları
Thomas Vigne, 1 Eylül 1801'de Thomas Vigne'nin en büyük oğlu olarak Walthamstow'da doğdu. 1817'de Harrow School'a başlayan Vigne, 1824'te avukat olarak mezun oldu. Daha sonra Lincoln's Inn topluluğunun üyesi oldu.
Kriket kariyeri
1819'dan 1845'e kadar 11 kriket maçında oynadı.[1]
Gezileri
1831'de İngiltere'den ayrılan Vigne, sırasıyla İran ve Hindistan'a gitti. Sonraki yedi yılını Kuzeybatı Hindistan ve Orta Asya'yı gezerek geçirdi. 1835 ve 1838 yılları arasında Keşmir ve Ladah'ı yoğun şekilde gezen Vigne, Baltistan'ı gezdiği bilinen ilk Avrupalı oldu. Nanga Parbat Dağı'nı tanımlayan ilk kişidir.[2] 1836'da Afganistan'ı ziyaret etti ve Dost Muhammed Han'la tanıştı. Kâbil'i ziyaret eden ilk İngiliz olduğu söylenmektedir.[3] 1852'den sonra Meksika, Nikaragua, Batı Hint Adaları ve Amerika Birleşik Devletleri'ni gezdi. Seyahatlerini anlatan birkaç kitap yayınladı.
