Ethel Smyth

Dame Ethel Mary Smyth, DBE^[1] (23. april 1858 – 8. maj 1944) bila je engleska kompozitorica, poznata kao jedna od predvodnica militantnog sufražetskog pokreta koji se početkom 20. vijeka borio za žensko pravo glasa u Velikoj Britaniji. Godine 1911. je komponirala himnu pokreta The March of the Women. Bila je poznata po burnom privatnom životu, tokom koga je imala veze sa oba spola. U poodmakloj dobi je bez uspjeha pokušala zavesti Virginiju Woolf, ali su obje žene na kraju ipak postale dobre prijateljice.
