Pleurothallis – rodzaj roślin z rodziny storczykowatych (Orchidaceae). Rośliny te rosną w różnych środowiskach, od zarośli po mgliste lasy i subparamo na wysokościach powyżej 3000 m n.p.m.^[7]

Rośliny występują w Ameryce Południowej w Brazylii, Gujanie Francuskiej, Gujanie, Surinamie, Wenezueli, północno-wschodniej Argentynie, Paragwaju, Boliwii, Kolumbii, Ekwadorze i Peru oraz w Ameryce Środkowej we wschodniej części Meksyku, Belize, Kostaryce, Gwatemali, Hondurasie, Nikaragui, Panamie, a także na Karaibach: na Kubie, Dominikanie, Haiti, Jamajce, Portoryko, Trynidadzie i Tobago, na Wyspach Nawietrznych, na Kajmanach^[7].

Morfologia

Łodyga wyprostowana, rzadko zwisająca, z cylindrycznymi pochwami, może posiadać widoczny pierścień. Liście twarde, lancetowate do owalnych,nasada sercowata lub zaokrąglona. Kwiatostan groniasty z dużą liczbą kwiatów lub z pojedynczym (w zależności od gatunku). Kwiaty odwrócone lub nie. Grzbietowy płatek trójkątnych do jajowatego. Boczne płatki zrośnięte. Warżka prosta bądź klapowata, ostro zakończona lub zaokrąglona. Dwie pyłkowiny, znamię całe lub poprzecznie dwuklapowe. Zalążnia gładka lub brodawkowata. Torebka kształtu wrzecionowatego do kulistego^[7].
