Slaget ved Rafah ble utkjempet den 9. januar 1917 og var de britiske styrkenes tredje og siste slag for å avslutte gjenerobringen av Sinaihalvøya under Kampene i Sinai og Palestina under første verdenskrig. Ørkenkolonnen fra den Egyptiske Ekspedisjonsstyrke (EEF) angrep en forskanset osmansk garnison ved Or Magruntein sør for Rafah nær grensen mellom Egypt og Det osmanske rike nord og øst for Sheikh Zowaiid. Angrepet markerte begynnelsen på kampene i det osmanske Palestina.

Etter den britiske seieren i slaget ved Romani i auguste 1916 og slaget ved Magdhaba i desember, var den osmanske armé ble tvunget tilbake til den sørlige delen av Palestina da den Egyptiske Ekspedisjonsstyrke trengte østover støttet av forlengede forsyningslinjer. Denne fremrykningen var avhengig av bygningen av en jernbane og en vannledning. Da jernbanen nådde al-Arish den 4. januar 1917 ble et angrep på Rafah med den nylig etablerte ørkenkolonnen mulig. Under det dagslange angrepet forsvarte den osmanske garnisonen rekken av konsoliderte skanser og skyttergraver i området ved Or Magruntein, som var omgitt av flate gressområder. De ble omringet av Australian Light Horse, New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade, Yeomanry Mounted Division, kameltropper og panserbiler. Sent på ettermiddagen erobret New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade den sentrale skansen og den resterende stillingene ble tatt kort etter.
