Birth of the Cool

Birth of the Cool er et musikkalbum utgitt av Miles Davis i 1950. På innspillingene ledet Davis en gruppe på ni musikere, og albumet var en av de første store utgivelsene til Miles Davis. Det var også en motpol til Davis' album Bebop, med arrangementer som ble omtalt som cool på innspillingstidspunktet (slutten av 1940, med opptak fra 1948–1950).

Opptakene ble gjort i Capitol Records' studio i New York.
